Are you an audiobook listener looking for a new fantasy romance tale to whisk you away for a few hours?
What about a tale of hidden ancestry, elemental magic, ancient grudges, and long-lost soul mate bonds?
If this sounds intriguing, I have a new opportunity for you. My fantasy romance novel, Aurie: The Last of the Fire Witches, is becoming an audiobook in the next few months.
Aurie: The Last of the Fire Witches is a story about Aurie, an elemental witch on a journey of self-discovery. Only, this journey is full of adventure, danger, and learning to channel her true power while on the run for her life.
If that wasn’t enough, Aurie learns she’s being tracked by Jasper, the mortal southern prince claiming she’s his long-lost soul mate.
Will Aurie find sanctuary and safety, or will grudges of the past consume her chance at a future?
The audiobook itself will be an estimated 8-9 hours, and is being created and narrated by the incredible Jacci Prior.
If all of this sounds like a story you’d be interested in, I have an amazing opportunity for you! As of February 3rd, I’m running a Kickstarter to bring this project to life. There are tiers for every budget, including an opportuinty to name a character in the next book in the series, Emrie: The Salvation of the Air Witches.
The Kickstarter pre-launch page is live right now, (click here) and if you sign up to be notified when the Kickstarter goes live, you could be one of the first to back this amazing project.
My eternal gratitude for all of your help, every like and share helps this message go a long way.
I’ve got some exciting news for you. My latest novel, a fantasy romance about a fire witch and her mortal prince, is coming out September 15th, 2025!
Aurie: The Last of the Fire Witches is a cozy novel inspire by Avatar: The Last Airbender. There is elemental magic, hidden heritage, jealousy, ancient grudges, and a soul mate bond that needs to be fought for.
Aurie is book one in my latest series, The Elemental Witches of Kallarnia, and book two is already buzzing away in my brain.
In other news, I’m going to be vending at three separate events this month!
The first one, Tales and Trinkets, takes place September 13th in Spruce Grove, Alberta. It’s the first year for this event, and already it’s shaping up to be more than I ever expected it to be! Come and say hi, and maybe you’ll get a sneak peak at Aurie a few days before she officially releases!
If you happen to be around the Edmonton area September 19th to the 21st, come and see me at the Edmonton Expo! I’ll have a table at Artist Alley, and as it’s my first year doing it, I’d be happy to see a couple of friendly faces.
Lastly, at least for September, Local Artists and Authors is an event in Gibbons, AB, focused on celebrating the creative community on September 27th.
What am I up to after September? I’m glad you asked.
To start off, I’ll be writing the finale to my Intertwined Trilogy, Attacking Fate. Nova and Haven have earned the right for an ending, but be prepared for a larger novel. A lot has to happen before it can end.
I’ll be writing book two in The Elementals of Kallarnia series, Emrie: The Salvation of the Air Witches.
There may also be a kickstarter in there to help raise funds so that Aurie can be recorded as an audio book.
Exciting news! Well, there is a lot of that going around right now. The big thing? I’ve started a Substack! I’ll put the link below, but the question you’re asking yourself right now is probably ‘why do I need to subscribe to this?’.
In my substack, I will be aiming for monthly newsletters. Never more than that, unless something big is happening, like publication day.
Monthly, I’ll let you know any news on books I’m publishing, behind the scenes character info, news about the events I’m planning at being at, and maybe a side story or two that no one else will have access to.
For instance, the June newsletter will have a character bio for my newest FMC, Aurie, who is a fire witch in a world that executed them decades ago. See, you have questions about her now, don’t you? Sign up before June and those questions will be answered!
There are a lot of things in the works, such as an online store, kickstarter, audio book, ect.
Come say hi on substack, and let’s build this welcoming community together!
In honor of it being my one year anniversary as an author, I’m putting my two best novels on sale for the month!
Awakening Fate and Poppy Curses and Emerald Skies e-books will both be available for $0.99 for the month of March across all online retailers!
Awakening Fate, book one in my urban fantasy twist on modernizing classic fairy tales, focuses on Nova, who is unaware that she is the descendant of Little Red Riding Hood. It’s a thrilling, quick read that will leave you hooked!
Poppy Curses and Emerald Skies is my Wizard of Oz retelling. Join Dori as she finds herself transported to a very broken Oz, an Oz that has been cursed by an Enchantress. Can Dori find a way to save the Guardians of Oz before it’s too late?
You can find these sales on Amazon, Kobo, Apple Books, and Barnes and Noble.
What are you still doing here, your next favorite book is only a few clicks away!
March 5th, 2025 will mark the one year anniversary of me becoming a published author. How did it go by so fast?
Honestly, it doesn’t feel like a full year yet, but at the same time it feels like it’s been decades. So much has happened in that one year, and so many lessons have been learned.
The first thing I learned, was that the moment that the sale page was live I had to start introducing myself differently. When meeting new people who would ask what I do, my go to answer used to be ‘My name is Chelsea, and I’m a stay at home mom of 3.’ I’ll be honest here and admit, even one year later, I still struggle to say ‘My name is Chelsea and I’m an author, as well as a stay at home mom of 3.’ Because, who gave me the right, am I right?
A year into this new career and I still feel like I snuck in to a room I wasn’t invited in to. But that’s not true at all, is it? I have written books (yes, bookS, not just a book. Wild, right?). I have written books, I have published books (3 to be exact), and I am in the works of writing and publishing more.
You can go to pretty much any e-book site and find my novels. I have reviews on them on Goodreads and Amazon, amongst other places. I am an author, and while it isn’t very much, I am a PAID author. Now, I’m nowhere near making a decent amount, or livable wage, off of my books. That’s not the point here. The point is that there are people out there, family/friends/strangers, who have given me their hard earned money in exchange for a book. I am a paid author.
I set a goal last year for myself. Sell 100 books before the end of December 2024. There were slow months, dead months, and months where I sold more than expected. Some months I spent a lot of time marketing, and some months I simply didn’t have the time. And yet, after all that, I ended the 2024 year with 103 books sold. Can you believe that?! Me! In my first year of independently publishing my own books, I sold over 100. It wasn’t even a full year, my book didn’t come out until March!
Just think of what I can accomplish in 2025 having two extra months to work from! The ability to apply myself even more, and maybe a few extra sprinkles of courage, and this year the only thing holding me back will be, well, me.
Speaking of lessons, I learned that there will be people that rave about your book, and moments later there will be people that have nothing but criticisms about it. There is nothing you can do about reviews. They are there for the readers (doesn’t take the full sting out of them, but know they will be all over the place sometimes).
What all did I accomplish in 2024? I published Awakening Fate in March, and then I followed that up by publishing Poppy Curses and Emerald Skies in June, and Discovering Fate in January.
I also managed to get my books into my local library, I sold a few at a town wide garage sale for full price ( I had doubters, but I did it!), and I rented a table at a Christmas market, where I finally reached my goal of selling 100 books ( I also sold 10 others that day, bringing me to 103 sold total).
I did all of that without any prior experience, and nothing but the shear determination of someone who was tired of doubting herself (where had that gotten me in life?). Instead, I turned doubt into believe in myself, and I accomplished life long goals.
This year? There will still be doubt (heck all of February was doubt), but I know now that I can push that doubt aside, invest in myself, and the sky is the limit.
So, March 5th I will be celebrating my one year author anniversary. I will take a moment to admire how far I’ve come, and then I will kick my own butt back to work, because I have characters waiting for me to guide them through new adventures.
I am an author. I write books. I believe in myself. Time to see how far I can fly this year.
Thanks for coming along for the journey. Below is the link to my linktree, the best place to find everything to do with me and my books!
Now that I’m a published author I get the question ‘what’s one piece of advice that you would tell authors just starting out?’, and my answer to that is this. You will make mistakes. You can do all the research you want, but there are things you won’t learn until you do them wrong. It’s an ongoing process, but pay attention to the lessons you’re learning, because it will make your next book stronger.
My lesson for the week is about book series. If you are writing a series (I am in the middle of my trilogy) make sure you think about that when it comes to book covers. As I was working with my graphic artist on the cover for Discovering Fate, I realized I missed putting something on the cover for Awakening Fate. I didn’t have the series title, and I didn’t have what number Awakening Fate was in that trilogy.
Luckily my graphic artist is amazing, and he had no problem going back to add that in. I’m in the process of updating it on all the sites I have my books on, but learn from me when writing a series! It give a much more cohesive look to your series.
If you are looking for a place to find my books, or my musical inspirations, or where to find me on my socials, I’ll put my linktree link below! Thanks for being here, friends!
The time has come! It’s publication day. The long awaited sequel to Awakening Fate is finally here for you! Discovering Fate is available on Amazon, Kobo, Barnes and Noble, Apple Books, and Overdrive. I’ll have a link for you below!
What’s Discovering Fate about, you ask? Here’s a summary for you:
First, he took her parents and then he targeted her sanity. The only reason Nova made it out alive was because of Haven Conners. Now, James is back, and he is targeting the one person Nova has left that she can depend on.
Not only is James still searching for her, but this time he has help. Will it be enough to break her for good, or will Nova be able to break free from the darkness that is determined to end her?
With other descendants starting to show up, will Jax and Haven be able to keep them all safe? Or is this the ending that James has been hoping for?
Discovering Fate is the second book in Chelsea Biddiscombe’s Intertwined trilogy, a thrilling urban fantasy twist on modernizing classic fairy tales. Descendants of fairy-tale characters are being hunted down by an unknown evil. Will a savior rise to protect them all, or will they suffer the consequences of their ancestors’ behaviors?
One of the things I was able to do in 2024 was attend my first ever market as an indie author.
It wasn’t a book specific market, so I knew the chances of me selling anything was slim, but I wanted to push myself to give it a shot.
I had a goal. I wanted to sell one book to one reader. If I did that I would leave the market satisfied.
If I wanted to cover the cost of my table and the cost of the product, I would have to sell three books. As it was a small town Christmas market, that wasn’t something I was certain would happen, but I was going for the experience. Dipping a toe in, if you will.
During the first five minutes of set up I was scolded by an elderly lady for bringing a book that had the word ‘curse’ in the title to a Christmas market, and I thought that was how my day was going to go.
However, I was pleasantly surprised at the support I received. I ended up selling three books before the market even officially opened. In the end I sold a total of eleven books, with a handful of people taking my business card so they could find the e-book on Amazon (which at least one person did purchase that night.)
I was approached by multiple other sellers and told how professional my set up was, especially since I had never done this before. They told me they were impressed, and I couldn’t stop smiling.
Another bright spot that day was hitting my yearly goal for sales. I started publishing in March, and I had made it a goal to sell 100 books by the end of 2024.
During the last hour of the market I sold book 100, and then I sold book 101. The way that made me feel, I almost couldn’t talk. Honored and grateful for the experience, for the warm welcome from the community, and from the readers, I can’t wait to go back again next year to see friendly faces.
All of this to say to you -take that chance. You may not exactly feel like you fit in, but people will surprise you. Take the chance, and believe in yourself.
As for me, I’ll be making even more goals for 2025, so watch out world, here I come 🙂
Exciting news friends! I have a publishing date for Discovering Fate! The sequel to my debut novel (Awakening Fate) will be out as of January 20th!
In Awakening Fate, Nova discovers that she is the descendant of Little Red Riding Hood, and it’s enough to bring a murderer to her door. On the run, scared and alone, Nova finds Haven, a woman with her own unknown ties to the classic fairy-tale world. Will they find sanctuary before becoming victims of the wolf?
Discovering Fate (Book 2 in the Intertwined Trilogy) available January 20th, 2025.

Wow, that second half of the year flew by faster than I would have liked! Good news for you guys, I’ve been busy while I was away! The biggest part of that was me writing Discovering Fate, the sequel to my book Awakening Fate!
It’s nearing the end stages on my end of things, which means I can officially set a publishing date for it, hurray! Look for that post in a few days!
I’ve set my goals for 2025 and let me just say it here, some of them are terrifying!
I have a new series to get out for you guys, one that has to do with elemental witches, and I already love these characters so much! I can’t wait to share that with you guys closer to the summer!
Of course, now that Discovering Fate is almost done, I also will be starting Attacking Fate, which is the final book in my Intertwined trilogy. The plan is the have the entire trilogy completed by July!
I also participated in my first market a few months ago (more on t his next time) and I can’t wait to sign up for more in the coming year. There is even talk of possibly attending the Edmonton Comic Expo as an indie author.
That’s it for me for right now. 2025 is going to be busy, but I can’t wait to see what magic I can make happen!
